The Wet Lab is managed by a Lab Manager responsible for training and coordinating equipment use. In addition, each resident has access to a booking platform to schedule and plan their experiments.

As part of startuplab.01, residents receive special discounts on lab materials and reagents. Some basic reagents and/or consumables are included in the lab, and other complex reagents can be requested from the Lab Manager, who will handle quotes and purchasing.

There are opportunities to collaborate with other residents to request the potential acquisition of specialized equipment, as long as there are shared needs. These requests will be reviewed by the startuplab.01 team, and the feasibility of acquiring the equipment will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

What can you do
in this lab?

The Wet Lab enables a range of assays and procedures in molecular biology, microbiology, and analytical chemistry.

DNA/RNA extraction, quantification, and purification

Cell line culture and cell viability and density assays.

Microscopy for morphological tracking or protein expression.

Quantitative analysis of active compounds (HPLC) and enzyme kinetics.

Microbial cultures and susceptibility testing.

Bioinformatics and experimental data storage.

This does not prevent residents from bringing their own instruments, as long as they are an appropriate size for storage and do not compromise space for other residents.

The Wet Lab enables a range of assays and procedures in molecular biology, microbiology, and analytical chemistry.

DRY LAB

The Dry Lab has 505 m2 of spaces dedicated to engineering, electronics, and fabrication work for modeling, simulation, and hardware prototyping.

Work areas and equipment

Digital Fabrication Zone

This area houses 3D printers, laser cutters, and precision cutting tools. It is intended for rapid fabrication of physical components for prototypes, enabling early design iterations. It shares physical space with the electronics and modeling/simulation zones, encouraging collaboration and a continuous workflow between design, electronics, and manufacturing.

Equipped with soldering stations, a PCB mill, and electronics development kits, this zone enables the creation, modification, and testing of electronic circuits. It is spatially integrated with the digital fabrication and modeling zones, making it easier to iterate between hardware and physical design.

This area has workstations equipped with CAD design software and electronic and environmental simulation tools. It is designed for pre-fabrication design and connects directly to the electronics and digital fabrication zones to enable a complete design–build–test cycle.

A closed, independent area containing a computer numerical control machine (CNC router) for working with wood, plastics, and non-ferrous metals. Due to noise, dust, and safety requirements, it is isolated from the rest of the work areas.

A space equipped with hand tools, workbenches, and fastening and assembly elements. It is intended for assembly tasks, mechanical intervention, and fine-tuning of prototypes. It serves as a bridge between digital fabrication and functional testing of developments.

Includes storage rooms for supplies, spare parts, and materials, as well as dedicated spaces for each startup. This zone ensures internal logistics, tool safekeeping, and an organized workspace.

An area equipped with mobile furniture and audiovisual resources, designed for workshops and technical training. It can accommodate up to 24 people at the same time for hands-on or theoretical activities.

What can you do in this lab?

You can develop advanced prototypes, precision electronics, complex mechanical systems, and functional materials.

Design, modeling, and simulation of mechanical parts and assemblies, and CAD, CAM, and CAE design, modeling, and manufacturing.

Prototyping biocompatible housings for sensors.

Assembly of electronic prototypes and electromagnetic response testing on electronic boards.

Development of functional polymer microcomponents using certified materials.

Development of hybrid molds (metal/3D-printed) for injection molding.

Fabrication and assembly of prototypes embedded in IoT systems or advanced sensors.

PROGRAM OFFERING

Startuplab.01 offers a range of support and mentoring programs that include the transfer of capabilities and knowledge to help resident startups attract capital, manage their business, pilot their technologies, and scale toward commercial impact.

The offering consists of our in-house program, relab.01, included in the residency, and other complementary programs on critical topics required by founders.

relab.01

Our flagship program, included free of charge and part of the value proposition for Startuplab.01 residents, lasts 9 months and aims to accelerate startup development through a system of personalized two-month cycles based on concrete goals.

This methodology, inspired by international best practices, recognizes that the journey from lab to market requires constant iteration, expert feedback, and clear yet flexible goals tailored to each type of technology.

Goal-cycle structure

Instead of rigid, linear phases, relab.01 operates through four two-month cycles, each with three measurable goals that startups must achieve. This structure creates a productive cadence with a sense of urgency while maintaining the flexibility needed to adapt to discoveries along the way.

CYCLE 1

Scientific Foundations (Months 1-2)

Startups validate their core scientific principles, map their stakeholder ecosystem, and define the critical resources for their development. This cycle sets the solid foundations to build on. It is the scientific roadmap.

Technical Feasibility (Months 3-4)

The focus shifts to demonstrating performance metrics in the lab, gathering feedback from industrial users, and identifying the main technical or regulatory barriers. It is the technical roadmap.

Integrated Proof of Concept (Months 5-6)

Startups build functional prototypes, secure letters of intent for pilots, and develop preliminary cost models based on real data. It is the commercial roadmap.

Preparation for the Next Stage (Months 7-8)

The final cycle documents viable paths to manufacturing, validates market willingness to pay, and secures a clear strategy for the post-program period when they become labers.01.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES

By completing relab.01, we aim for startups to achieve:

1

Validated technology with clear paths to commercialization

2

A robust business model backed by specific evidence

3

An active network of advisors and potential partners

4

A defined funding strategy and growth plan

This program does not take equity in resident companies; therefore, founders can retain full ownership and control over their developments and technologies.

Complementary programs

Resident startups will have priority and will be able to apply with preference to other support opportunities that address their critical needs. These complementary programs will be delivered jointly with national and international institutions with expertise in areas such as:

1

Advanced technical development

2

Commercial navigation for deep tech

3

Financing – capital raising

4

Intellectual Property

5

Leadership and Team Building

6

Industrial scaling

*The offering, timelines, and participation conditions for these programs will be published on a case-by-case basis as applicable throughout the year.
