With more than 56,000 visitors gathering between November 20 and 22 at Parque Bicentenario, EtM Day once again cemented itself as one of the country’s most important innovation events. This year, startuplab.01 had an especially significant presence, showcasing its value proposition, cutting-edge infrastructure, and strategic role in strengthening Chile’s Deep Tech ecosystem.
“Being at EtM wasn’t just about showing what we do—it was about reinforcing a strategic message: Chile needs infrastructure, capabilities, and spaces that accelerate science to market. (startuplab.01 was created for that.) Taking part in this event allowed us to connect with thousands of people, open the conversation around Deep Tech, and show how these kinds of capabilities can transform the country’s productive development,” said Francisca Contreras, Executive Director of startuplab.01.
As part of Fundación Chile’s stand, startuplab.01 presented a series of experiences designed to let people experience science first-hand. These included a DemoLab—a basic version of the hub’s future facilities—along with activities such as Four Futures (immersive virtual reality), Science Bowl (a timed science game), and trivia focused on scientific and technological knowledge.
“The value for entrepreneurs was clear: at startuplab.01 they’ll find, in one place, specialized labs, talent, and corporate partners. EtM was our first major public milestone before opening our doors with our founding partners, and it allowed us to show in concrete terms how we’re integrating science and industry to accelerate technologies that can reach the market and create new opportunities for the country,” added Gabriela Taborga, Commercial Manager at startuplab.01.
From a scientific perspective, the event helped bring the hub’s infrastructure and methodology closer to thousands of visitors. “The DemoLab was a minimal sample of what resident teams will be able to use. Science is understood by doing it, and that’s what we saw at EtM: people experimenting, asking questions, and discovering. Our goal is for startups to have real infrastructure, validated methodologies, and technical support to move faster in their developments,” explained Felipe Calleja, Scientific Lead at startuplab.01.
For many companies that visited the stand, the value of having a space like startuplab.01 was clear: a place where they can connect with scientific talent, validate technologies, and explore new innovation opportunities. EtM allowed us to show that we’re building a real platform where industry, science, and entrepreneurship can work together and generate solutions with impact.
